‘Beautiful Marlene’
Rarely seen such an elegant windmill – sorry – wind turbine. So the producer named her after a famous beautiful lady: Marlene Dietrich.
‘Cutting and shaving’
In polder Rijnvliet near Utrecht, a number of high-voltage pylons were recently removed in order to build an underground (heavier) network on the same route. This transition was necessary to meet the increasing demand for energy. Van Schie was allowed to dismantle the steel structures, cut them into pieces and then dispose of them.
Luminous art in Ghent
Belgium’s Ghent – the city of art, culture and festivals – once again hosted its annual “Festival of Lights” last winter. It was the fifth edition of this highly regarded event.
Working on the Amstel
Van Schie has designed a pontoon specifically for infrastructure work on and near the water: the VSP770 pontoon. A unique modular system developed in-house. A pontoon with many possibilities and great buoyancy.
Protection for the Great Bear
Along the Grote Beer, a busy traffic artery in Veenendaal, Van Schie replaced an old wooden screen with a contemporary 2-meter-high sound barrier built on an earthen embankment.
The bridge over ‘t Twiske
This pontoon bridge is located on the outer edge of Amsterdam-North in the small river ‘t Twiske. This stream flows through the Kadoelen neighborhood, popularly called Capie’s Oort because of the many retired captains who used to live there.
Skating fun on the Minnewater
Against the romantic backdrop of the castle “della Faille,” Van Schie laid the foundation for much skating fun in Bruges, Belgium, for the third time in a row.
High-flyers in construction
High above the construction site, they do their work: the impressive tower cranes that move the heaviest loads vertically and horizontally with seeming ease and then lower them into the right place with extreme precision. Their silhouette can often be seen from a great distance above the city skyline.
Sheet piling
A proverb could not be more aptly portrayed: “Whoever wants to become a great crane operator must start at the bottom. In construction, this is often literal and figurative. Starting small, gaining lots of experience, then growing into an all-round craftsman.
Soil vacuum cleaner
Earth-moving equipment comes in all shapes and sizes: heavy excavators (radio-controlled or not), crawler cranes, midi-cranes, mini-excavators. Each one is a machine designed for excavating and backfilling soil, digging trenches, reshaping an industrial site or laying sewers.
Flooding A9 near Amstelveen
The A9, the freeway that splits the municipality of Amstelveen in two, is going through a complete overhaul. The road will be deepened and widened over a length of 1.6 kilometers in the coming years. There will be three canopies and the number of lanes on each roadway will go from 3 to 4.
Sheet piling
A huge construction project is currently underway in Diemen-Zuid. It’s called: Holland Park Diemen. The section that is more or less completed is already being called “Amsterdam’s new ring of canals.
