Our areas of expertise are diverse. From foundation techniques to a soil bank that contributes to a healthy environment. From crane rental to pontoon rental, both domestically and internationally… With each expertise, you can rely on our 60 years of experience. And you can also count on the practical experiences we proudly showcase. Therefore, we proudly present practical experiences that speak for themselves. So, go ahead and click on an area of expertise that interests you, and see how we have assisted other clients. Projects
You can say so much…
But actions speak louder than words… That’s why we would like to show you what we are capable of. And, let’s not beat around the bush, that’s no small feat. We’re more than happy to showcase examples from each of our areas of expertise, giving you a glimpse into the projects we have taken on together with our clients.

Lifting with care
Van Schie Crane Rental is increasingly being called upon to install residential units for the elderly who require care, known as informal care homes.

‘Krák!” said the bridge
It happened near Hellendoorn, the village that had just been declared the happiest place in the Netherlands. With the bridge over the Regge River, the residents were unfortunately out of luck. The bicycle bridge – right on the border between Twente and Salland – was already in poor condition due to overdue maintenance, but after overloading and harsh weather conditions, the wooden structure finally had to give in.

Dike reinforcement
Hansje Brinker had it easy. He only had to stick his thumb in the dike to prevent the land from being flooded. In the year 2023, dozens of specialized civil engineering contractors must work together to prevent the dikes from breaching and washing away everything we have all built.

Pontoon bridge for Sail Den Helder
SAIL Den Helder is an event that has been held every five years since 1993, usually simultaneously with the Navy Days. The entire history of (inter)national seafaring is practically board-to-board on display then. From windjammers or tallships that had the wind in their sails centuries ago, to modern frigates and submarines that show their newest techniques here. The latter was also done by Van Schie with its newest type of pontoon bridge.

Creative with bentonite
Suppose you want to build a house and the contractor has calculated that the foundation should consist of 36 concrete piles, 11 meters long. The concrete piles are already in place, the formwork is ready and the rebar is braided. Only the concrete floor remains to be poured. And then the municipality comes and says that the piles are one meter too deep in the ground.

On land, sea and air
This year marks exactly 50 years since the popular program first appeared on the tube. Back then it was still called ‘Fly out’. At Van Schie we look back with great pleasure on all those years that our company was allowed to take care of the construction of all the ‘wet’ locations.

Smart bypass
You probably know them: those little concrete bridges in the polder. High in the road surface and too narrow to pass each other by car. They last a hundred years, but eventually cracks and tears appear and something has to be done quickly. This was also the case on Demmerik, below Vinkeveen.

One with nature
It is impossible to imagine our streets without noise barriers. Roads are being built everywhere, there are houses and people live everywhere. Even in Ede in the Veluwe, where a new ring road had to be built right through the woods. Then it is nice that there are ‘green’ noise barriers that fit seamlessly into a natural environment.

Clean City
While everywhere in our country hundreds of garbage trucks drive through the streets, in the municipality of Amsterdam they are taking a totally different approach to the disposal of household waste. Not by road, but underground. The system being built for this can best be compared to tube mail. Van Schie was allowed to make an important contribution to the infrastructure of this innovative project.

The train disaster
The train disaster near Voorschoten – earlier this year – is no doubt still fresh in many people’s minds. On Tuesday, April 4, around 3:30 a.m., an Intercity and a freight train collided with a construction crane, with fateful consequences. The driver of the construction crane died; thirty other people were seriously injured. Both trains derailed, and the massive impact sent two of the four railcars crashing into a meadow.

Nice job at the PLUS
Distribution centers of our national supermarket chains have been popping up like mushrooms in recent years. A consequence of “just-in-time-delivery,” a system in which the stores no longer maintain their own stock but receive the goods from a central point – a so-called DC.

Zwaanskuikenbrug
Many bridges in the Netherlands are currently undergoing renovation, including the Zwaanskuikenbrug at Hei- en Boeicop. This swing bridge over the Merwede Canal will be equipped with a new road surface, new controls, new cabling, and will be freshly repainted. As a temporary solution for cyclists and pedestrians, Van Schie has constructed a modern VSP pontoon bridge here. Ambulances are also allowed to use it. Other vehicular traffic must take a detour.
