In Amsterdam, in the heart of the red light district, there has recently been a bridge manufactured in one piece by a 3D printer. It is the world’s first 3D printed bridge made entirely of stainless steel.

It lies across the Oudezijds Achterburgwal, off Stoofsteeg, and was designed by Amsterdam-based metal printing startup MX3D, led by Joris Laarman. The bridge was officially opened by Queen Máxima on July 15. It will remain there for two years. In the meantime, the old bridge is being restored.

This unique bridge weighs 6,000 pounds. Van Schie Crane Rental was allowed to hoist it in with a 60-ton telecrane.
