Scattered throughout the medieval city center this summer, during the Triennial, thirteen objects were displayed by artists and architects. Piece by piece creations in which they search for “what lurks behind the facades of picturesque Bruges.

One of the objects is on pontoons from Van Schie. American artist Jon Lott has a fascination with doubles, both in people and architecture. He copied the back house of the building where the painter Jan van Eyck was born in 1390 in wood and glued this structure to the existing building, as it were.

It spans the waters of the Golden Handrei. Even inside this work of art, everything is duplicated and also papered with mirrors, so that visitors also see themselves twice.
