4 New container cars

Technology never stands still. There are always new developments. Likewise with container truck loading and unloading systems. At Van Schie, we follow everything closely. Soon another four new container trucks will enter our gate: two Volvos and two Ginafs, equipped with the most modern container handling equipment.

There are basically three systems for loading and unloading container buckets: with hooklift, with chains and with cable. Van Schie’s trucks are all equipped with a steel cable system. This is preferable to the other two systems. It is stronger, the whole arrangement weighs a ton lighter and the bin can be raised and lowered much more “horizontally,” which in turn is associated with better stability. But also, the system with cable is becoming safer and more secure in operation.

Triple-axis

Our new cars have a triple axle, with axle 2 having air suspension. Axis 3 and 4 are hydraulic. This saves weight and provides more comfort. In addition, the car can be more easily straightened, or “leveled. The installation has hydraulics for crane bucket and hydraulics for the (liquid-tight) environmental valves.

Furthermore, the system is optimally secured with (air-operated) crane bin locking and an additional lock bar at the front. Two so-called “tables” ensure that the tray is perfectly caught and corrected should it run slightly off track. Finally, all vehicles meet the highest safety and environmental requirements, such as a hydraulically extendable underride guard (bumper bar) and a Euro6 diesel engine.
