Every summer, residents of Bruges, tourists, and visitors to this beautiful city can enjoy free swimming in an outdoor area located in the old town. For several years now, Van Schie has been creating a sort of ‘beach pool’ on pontoons in the heart of the city.

In the small section of the canal, specially designated for swimmers, flows extremely clean water, but diving is prohibited. The water is 2.5 meters deep. Anyone can use the swimming pontoon without making an appointment. There are showers and changing rooms available, and ‘lifeguards’ keep a watchful eye on it every day.
