Significantly more and heavier traffic now crosses this bridge than was anticipated in the 1970s. The bridge is in poor condition and in need of restoration. In Krimpen aan den IJssel - on a site owned by Van Schie - a second \"Suurhoff Bridge\" has now been built to be placed next to the first bridge.
